Microsoft to launch cheaper version of Windows

During the launch of the Rural Knowledge Center (RKC) under the Microsoft & Partner's Unlimited Potential program, Brad Smith, Senior VP & General Councel Microsoft Corp told media persons that Microsoft is coming out with another version of Windows called as Microsoft Windows Starter Edition which would be priced at 1/3 of the cost of Windows XP (so, it would be priced around Rs.1000/- or 23 US$).

This he said was to break into the Rs.10000 barrier that PC manufacturers were aiming for.
