Quota Reservations stir in India

It is quite sad to see the politicians and police pitted against the students.
The quota reservations was an unnecessary announcement (IMHO).

Why lower standards? A person from a backward caste just needs to secure 40-50% marks to get into a elite engineering college while students from other caste have to secure as high as 80-90%, and that too for a limited few seats.

We are not against uplifting people of lower caste but my take is that facilitate the student from lower caste to compete with students and help them secure 80-90% and thereby create a level playing ground where all students immaterial of caste or creed could evenly compete. This raises the level of education which directly influences the economic status of a country.

I mean why would a Microsoft or a IBM come to open an office in India or hire Indians when the grade of the students passing out is just around 40-50%.

The interesting part is the stand of the government on this issues...they are adamant to go back and remove the increase they had informed. Rather, they announce an increase in the number of seats in engineering and medical colleges; again the treatment is not for the wound. This is like you go to a doctor complaining of a severe headache and he takes out a knife and slashes you in your neck and says...now you will not feel your headache!!!!

BOTTOM LINE:
DO NOT COMPROMISE ON QUALITY BY INCREASING QUANTITY AND ANNOUNCING RESERVATIONS.

This is a good joke one of my friends forwareded..It goes like this

MSingh informs Bush that India is going to send Indian to space next year. Bush is thrilled and asks how many. MSingh replies 100 Indians

25 -SC
25 - OBC
20 - ST
20 -Minority community
5 - Women
4 -Politicians
and if possible 1 astronaut

Aziz Premji of Wipro rightly puts is….why don’t they implement reservations in the India cricket team also….5 OBC, 4 SC/ST, 2 Others.
