Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi vs Subhash Chandra Bose

October 2 is Gandhi Jayanthi or the anniversary of the birth of MK Gandhi. He is hailed as the father of our nation (India) but this question has always been at the back of my mind that whether he would have still fought for the independence of India if he hadn't been thrown out of the train at Pietermaritzburgby? Probably he would have gone on to practice law in South Africa and would have continued (yes, he fought for the rights of the Indians in South Africa while he was working there) to champion the cause of the Indians & South African people during the apartheid and racism struggle through his Natal Indian Congress instead of Nelson Mandela.

I do have great respect for Mahatma Gandhi, so do many Indians, for whatever he has done for us and that his contribution towards bringing peace and non-violence to this world is unparalleled. On the other hand I am tempted to think whether Subhash Chandra Bose's contribution to the Indian Independence Movement has greatly overshadowed by too much of credit being given to Gandhi's non-violence movement? Although, the means chosen by Gandhi and Subhash Chandra Bose to achieve freedom were absolutely opposite but I strongly beleive that the ends justify the means!
