Who stole Pakistan's P1 Centrifuge?

I strongly recommend Musharraf's In the Line of Fire. Lots of interesting and controversial stories are portrayed from a different angle, mostly with a different climax!, One of the striking point in Musharraf's book is in him claiming institutional innocence by distancing himself and the Pakistan government from AQ Khan, the infamous nuclear scientists. When Dr. Khan joined the Govt. of Pakistan in 1975 he brought along 'stolen' drawings of centrifuges from the uranium enrichment facility Urenco in Holland where he was employed as a metallurgist. He was later convicted by a Dutch court in absentia. It is already in that man to trade/steal sensitive information and it is no surprise that he was peddling blueprints of Pakistan's P1 centrifuge to the some of the world's dangerous regimes like North Korea and Libya.

When you hire someone like AQ Khan who coolly waked out of Urenco with sensitive centrifuge design documents as if it was his birthright how could the Pakistan government trust someone with such a reputation to work for you on a super sensitive assignment. Most of North Korea's uranium enrichment program is based on AQ Khan's P1 Centrifuge design which he sold using his Dubai based web of underground dealers.

Isn’t Pakistan partly responsible for North Korea threatening the rest of the world with its nuclear capabilities? Why is the US taking a soft stand while dealing with Pakistan? The answer to that and to the US's friendship with Pakistan is mostly out of strategic interest and for the geographical location of Pakistan. Many predominantly Muslim countries which are base for terrorists are already on the hit list of Junior Bush in such a situation the bases at Pakistan would be of military interest to the Uncle Sam.
